Material Selection - your next metal roof project
A roof or wall creates a statement and makes the first impression quickly and more effective than any other architectural component of a building. Hence, during the selection of metal roof or wall cladding for your home or prestigious project, two important items to look at are

• the pre-painted (i.e.colour coated) steel material

• the actual roof or wall cladding profile (by the roofing manufacturer)

The selection of pre-painted steel material is crucial in that, it determines the long term performance of the roof or wall. This is where COLOURCOIL^® high performance pre-painted steel comes in. Our special colour coated steel, cured with the latest state-of-the-art infra-red curing technology, is now available in new and exciting colours. This high performance fluoropolymer resin, with its extraordinary capability to retain colour and gloss, keeps colour coated steel vibrant and appealing.

Kynar 500^® PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) resin by Arkema Inc. is marketed through a rigid licensing program that ensures consistency and quality. To qualify as a licensee, the coating formulation must use nothing less than 70% Kynar 500^® resin (of total binder weight). The minimum 70% Kynar 500^® resin establishes the base performance for licensed Kynar 500^® resin-based coatings that the construction industry has trusted for more than 40 years.

Therefore, if you want a true and genuine PVDF colour coated steel finish for your next metal roofing or wall cladding project, you must specify "COLOURCOIL PVF2 Series or METALLIC PVF2 Series with full strength 70% Kynar 500". The colour and gloss performance will drop drastically with any fluoropolymer coating formulation that has less than 70% Kynar 500^®.

Factory Tours
In August, Lembaga Pembangunan Perumahan dan Bandar (LPPB) from Sabah, Malaysia made a visit to Colourcoil Industries. The visit started with a 30 minutes presentation by our Commercial Manager, Peter Wong, followed with a tour through our factory and laboratory. Our Quality Control Executive, Clarence, also showed our guests, the strict quality control checks required to ensure that all products leaving our factory conform to the required specifications.

For most of our guests, it was their first time visit to a coil coating plant. Not only were the visitors impressed with Colourcoil's infra-red curing technology and pre-painted steel products but they were equally impressed with the cleanliness of the factory. As frequently mentioned by our managing director, "to produce a high quality and clean product, our working environment must be clean and safe".

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Mdm. Noreen Ooi and LPPB staff for visiting and we hope to see them again.
